Having this amenity at a Sports Club is very valuable for your health and your pocket book. Very few clubs have infrared saunas due to the high purchase price and expense of maintenance. Many of those that do have infrared saunas charge per minute. Not at Sports Club Kahana!! With your membership or visitor pass, you have complimentary use of our very spacious infrared saunas.
- INFRARED SAUNAS HEAT YOU FROM THE INSIDE OUT. Regular dry saunas heat the external environment. Eventually the body will begin to sweat to cool off, but it could take a while. With infrared, the rays penetrate into the skin. Within 2 minutes, you begin sweating with less external heat making infrared saunas more comfortable and more efficient.
- RELEASE TOXINS. Sweating is a great way to help rid the body of toxins. Within a couple minutes of entering our infrared sauna, you will begin releasing toxins through sweating.
- BURN CALORIES, ASSIST IN WEIGHT LOSS. As you sit in the infrared sauna and sweat, your metabolic rate increases as your body works to cool down. Dr. Oz who was on the Oprah show a few months ago said that a person can burn up to 700 calories in the infrared sauna. It would take about 60 minutes to burn 700 calories through exercise. With the infrared sauna, you can burn a significant amount of calories without lifting a finger!! Remember to hydrate after using infrared saunas, to replenish necessary water in the body.

Infrared saunas are great. Relax and detox.
Unfortunately you will not lose any fat in a sauna. The only “weight” you will lose is water weight, and that comes back as soon as you rehydrate yourself.
As a matter of fact, Dr. E. Wayne Askew, researcher at the University of Utah, found that when people dehydrate 3 percent of their body weight (as in losing it via sweat), the rate at which they burn calories actually declines by 2 percent. Askew concluded that if you sit in a sauna to lose weight, “you are only losing water and you may actually burn fewer calories” because your metabolism may be slightly depressed.
